Wetiko is a Detroit-based painter and muralist whose work weaves symbols, characters, and myth into both intimate artworks and massive public walls. With more than a decade of murals across the United States — from Washington D.C. to Miami to Santa Monica — his practice bridges fine art and community.
His work stands at the intersection of traditional craft and the digital frontier. Every piece, whether a four-story mural or a one-of-one canvas, is rooted in two decades of fine arts experience and a drive to create symbols that resonate across cultures, mediums, and communities.
In 2026 the Detroit Institute of Arts commissioned Echoes Over Grosse Ile through its Partners in Public Art program. Clients include Detroit Institute of Arts, Detroit Pistons, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Oculus, ZF North America and EventNext.
